Is your child getting the support they need at school? While most therapists have your child’s best interests at heart, sometimes a second opinion is needed. Many parents do not realize that they have the right to request an independent assessment of their child if they feel that the district assessment did not fully capture their student’s needs. These assessments, called Individualized Education Program (IEPs), are funded by the school district at no cost to parents. We provide IEPs in occupational therapy for students who need more data in order to develop an appropriate and effective IEP. We will work with your child’s school team in order to evaluate and observe your child in their natural setting at school. And because we have experience in school-based therapy, our evaluation will provide more valuable info and recommendations than if your child was assessed in a clinic alone.
